How is a web site designed?
Webspeed use a simple consultation-based design process. Usually we will go through several "sit-down" consultations with
a business before the final product is polished and ready to go live. There are however three main steps encompassing the entire process.
Initial consultation
This is the first meeting between the designer and your business representative. Here the designer will find out about your business and
your customer needs. It is now that specific goals will be outlined, such as what information needs to be conveyed via the site. Then
ideas about layout and other design aspects are discussed and a simple layout is constructed either hand-drawn or "rough-designed" on a
laptop, to give both parties an idea of what it may look like.
Follow up
A follow-up meeting will be arranged by the designer once the "rough design" has been formatted into a properly viewable web page layout.
It is now that further layout & content specific requirements are discussed. Once these have been added to the goals, the designer will
go back and finalize the layout.
Some photographic work may also now be carried out by the designer to supplement the site content, such as photos of employees, your place
of business etc.
The designer may meet with the business a few more times now to ensure the layout & content requirements are being met, before the
final polish is complete.
Final consultation
This is the final step in the entire process. By now your domain name and web hosting will already be up and running with a temporary page
displayed on your site. Once both parties are happy with the final product, the designer will immediately update the site so that it is now
live & fully functional!
Additional minor updates may be required by the business. If these are late content additions, they may attract service fees.
